Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program

Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program was established to give financial support to the students who are residents of the state of Maryland. This scholarship program is offered to both the undergraduate as well as the graduate high school seniors who wish to pursue a degree in nursing after graduating from high school.

Once a recipient is selected, he or she is required to sign a promisory note with the Maryland Higher Education Commission which says that the recipient agrees to commit to do service obligation in the field of nursing within the state of Maryland until such time that the financial assistance that was provided for his or her education has been fully repaid.

A full time employment corresponds to 1 year of every academic year that a financial aid was given; and a part time employment is equivalent to two years for every academic year that a financial help was extended. The recipient also has the option to pay a fraction of the amount if they wish.

For the candidates who would like to take advantage of this great opportunity to help them complete their education, must submit their application on or before its actual deadline which is on July 1. Candidates on the other hand who hopes to be considered for the Living Expenses Grant are required to file the Free Application for Federal Students Aid.

The amount provided by the Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program is from $4,500 up to $19,000. This scholarship award is definitely an amazing chance for the senior high school students of Maryland.
