Nursing students undertaking their nursing bachelor’s degree programs can apply for the Virginia Elizabeth & Alma Vane Taylor Student Nurse Fund to help them through their pursuit of their degree. The selection committee gives priority to nursing students pursuing their degrees for the first time. Priority is also given to those nursing students who are residents of Yadkin, Wilkes, Surry, Stokes, Forsyth, Davie and Davidson which are all counties within the Winston-Salem Foundation’s coverage.
There are some requirements that student applicants must fulfill. The first of these is that the applicant must be accepted in a school accredited by the foundation within the state of North Carolina supported by a copy of the letter of acceptance in either bachelor’s degree or associate course. Next is that the applicant must show proof of financial difficulty. Applicants must also be able to maintain a Grade Point Average of 2.5 or better. Applicants must be citizens of the United States or at least legal students in the U.S. with approval from the Student Aid.
