The Vermont State Nursing Incentive Scholarship Loan Program is open to both the undergraduate as well as the graduate students who are residents of Vermont, and are in need of financial assistance so they can complete their education. As in any other scholarship programs, the Vermont State Nursing Incentive Scholarship Loan Program has its own set of requirements as well that the interested candidate must fulfill so they can qualify for this scholarship program.
One of the requirements is that the candidate must be pursuing a degree in nursing, and once selected as a recipient, the student must be willing to work as a nurse either in Vermont or in an accredited hospital that is within 10 miles of the border of Vermont. The recipient must agree to work for at least one year as soon as he or she has obtained a license as a nurse so that her loan will be forgiven.
The Vermont State Nursing Incentive Scholarship Loan Program is awarded by the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) and the amount that this program allots for its awards is up to $50,000 which is to be divided among 20 recipients. The scholarship award provided by this program is non- renewable. The candidate is required to complete and then submit VSAC Unified Scholarship Application, along with other requirements such as a letter of recommendation, an essay and the applicant’s transcript of records.
All applications as well as the other supporting documents must be submitted on or before the specified deadline.
