Nursing students in the state of Oklahoma who are majoring in the any of the following nursing courses; Associate Diploma in Nursing, Licensed Practical Nurse, Bachelor in Science in nursing or Masters’ in Science in nursing can apply for the Nursing Student Assistance Program. This is actually loan granted to nursing students who are studying in rural parts in Oklahoma. About 250 to 300 students of nursing are granted the scholarship loans every year. Since it started in 1982, at least 5,689 students have benefited from this loan.
The main goal of this scholarship loan is to provide financial help to those studying in the following nursing program; MSN, BSN, AND or LPN. These students must show plans of practicing nursing in the rural areas of Oklahoma.
Applicants are eligible once they fulfill some requirements. The first of which is that a letter of acceptance in a nursing school must be shown. The second is that the student must be certified resident of Oklahoma. Lastly, the applicant must be an American Citizen.
