The North Carolina Nurse Education Scholarship Loan Program was founded by the 1989 General Assembly as an action to respond to the concern with regards to lack of trained nurses who are serving in the state of North Carolina. This scholarship program is given in two semesters, such that the first half is given in the fall semester and the other half is given in the spring semester.
The North Carolina Nurse Education Scholarship Loan Program is renewable up to three years, and after the recipient has graduated, he or she is required to work full time as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. If the recipient is able to fulfill 1 year of service, then also 1 year of Nurse Scholarship Program or NSP funding support is also revoked.
Another condition set by this scholarship program is that service repayment must be done in the period of 7 years after graduation. The loanable amount that this scholarship grant provides is $5,000. In order to qualify for this scholarship program, the candidate must be able to maintain a grade of 3.0 or higher.
May 1 is the deadline set for the submission of applications by the North Carolina Nurse Education Scholarship Loan Program, so the students who wish to take advantage of this great opportunity must turn in their application before the given deadline.
