The New Mexico Higher Education Department awards a scholarship grant through its program called NM Allied Health Loan for Service. This scholarship program is intended for the students who are residents of New Mexico and who are enrolled at a public college also in the state of New Mexico. In order to be considered eligible for the NM Allied Health Loan for Service, the candidate needs to be accepted into a health profession program that leads to a degree or certification.
Part of the requirement for this scholarship program is that the candidate must also display an interest or intent to practice nursing in New Mexico. The award that NM Allied Health Loan for Service provides is a forgivable loan, and the amount that it offers is up to $12,000 that is renewable for up to three years provided that the recipient is able to reapply for each year.
This scholarship program chooses 20 recipients every year, and the application for NM Allied Health Loan for Service starts on May 15 and ends on July 1. For a candidate to make an application, he or she needs to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Among the other requirements apart from the application, other supporting documents are school certification, an essay, two letters of recommendation, letter of acceptance and official transcript of records.
