The applicants of the Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship Fund must fulfill some requirements before getting a chance of receiving the scholarship award. The first requirement is that the student applicant must be citizens of the United States of America. The second requirement is that the student applicant has plans to enroll in a college in Washington State as full students. The third requirement is that the student applicant must be a high school graduating student in a public school within the county of either Snohomish, Pierce and King in Washington State during the year of awarding.
The student applicants are all eligible by nomination of their high schools every year. The application forms can be only availed through the public high schools located within the counties mentioned above. On January 10 of every year, high schools within these counties are sent and accept the application forms and policies and have a set time limit of the 1st of March to send in the candidates application forms.
There are some subjects that are not accepted like sculpture, drawing, interior decorating, domestic science and music.
The highest monetary that can be given out is two-thousand U.S. dollars. These awards can be renewed in four years in a collegiate course in Washington State. There are about 30 recipients of the scholarship but the final number depends on the funds available.
