The Mildred Nutting Nursing Scholarship is a scholarship program made by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. This is a scholarship award given as a one-time award to students who are in need of financial aid. To qualify, students must be accepted and currently enrolled at any of the accredited nursing schools. Students will be given $1,000 to help with their studies. Candidates who are residents of the greater Lowell, MA, area will be given priority for the said scholarship. For any interested applicants, forms must be submitted on or before the 15th of February.
For scholarship grants such as these, it is important to note that priority is given towards candidates of a specific residence simply because the scholarship aims to promote students in that area to take up nursing. This helps both the students and the community. Gifted students who are residents of the greater Lowell, MA, area will have bigger chances of getting accepted to the scholarship program. For the community, this will give incentive for their residents to take up a course in nursing which would eventually lead to more nurses in the future. This is a great way to address the shortage in nurses as well as provide a consistent stream of nurses in the future.
It is fortunate that there are scholarship programs such as these that encourages students to take up a course in nursing. By helping students in need, they are motivating more students to take up and finish their college degree.
