The Melissa Sengbusch Inspirational Scholarship was created by the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing. This is a type of scholarship that aims to help incoming traditional BSN students that will be studying at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing. With this scholarship program, they are given aid when it comes to the associated financial costs in studying at Penn. With this their financial burdens will be decreased since accepted applicants will be given $2,500. Furthermore, this scholarship is open to all four years at Penn supposing that the student’s academic progress is sufficient.
If students wish to apply, they must be enrolled or are eligible to enroll at Penn’s School of Nursing. Also, they must be able to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is done so that the recipients of the scholarship grant is deserving of the financial aid. This also encourages the students to study well since their scholarship requires a maintaining grade. Applications must be submitted on or before the 15th of March.
The school benefits from this scholarship just as much as the students benefit from it. Students will have less burdens and things to worry about since their studies are subsidized by the scholarship fund. On the other hand, the school benefits from this by having students that excel in their academics. Truth be told, scholarships such as these also benefit the nursing profession in general since these not only encourages more students to take up nursing which in turn produces more nurses in the future but it also ensures the quality of said nurses.
