The McNeil Annual Scholarship Award is given through the generous donations of the McNeil Consumer Products Company and is managed by the Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Foundation. Their aim is to support nursing research efforts since it directly contributes to the improvement in the quality of life for children and their families alike.
The NAPNAP will give out two awards to selected applicants that are currently enrolled in any pediatric nurse practitioner programs. However, for a nurse to be eligible, they must be current members of the NAPNAP and have at least three years work experience in pediatrics. Applicants must also prove that they are in need of the award and financial aid.
While generally being stricter than other scholarships, it holds a distinct advantage to pediatric nurses especially to those who are members of the NAPNAP. The selected applicant will be given up to $1500 in financial aid but must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is to ensure that the award does not go to waste and that the student is of exceptional academic excellence. Since the scholarship program is open to already employed nurses, it is important that they show exceptional skills since they are studying to improve their skills. Since they are already working, the things that they learn will have a direct effect to their patients and in turn the families of their patients. That is why this scholarship is strict when it comes to its criteria. Deadline for the application is on the 30th of April.
