The National Black Nurses Association or NBNA, Inc., has successfully established a scholarship fund that is aimed at those nursing students who are experiencing some financial difficulties. This will allow these students of the nursing field to continue their studies. The scholarship fund is named the Martha R. Dudley LPN/LVN Genesis Scholarship. It is named after Martha R. Dudley who was a former Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of the National Black Nurses Association of the Greater Houston area. The scholarship fund is given out every year by her daughter, Maria Dudley, who herself was a former president of the National Black Nurses Association of Los Angeles. Student applicants who are interested in this scholarship award must be enlisted and taking up either a Licensed Practical Nursing course or a Licensed Vocational Nursing program. The student applicant must show proof of good scholastic records. Interested applicants should also be existing and certified members of an NBNA chapter or any of its affiliated organizations. The student applicant must at the very least have one year to go of schooling.
The monetary value of the scholarship fund is 2,000 US dollars. The deadline for the submission of application is on the 15th of April.
