The Emergency Nurses Association Foundation is an organization serving as the resource for emergency RNs that they can turn to at any point of their nursing career. This foundation is the resource for recent information and technology in this field, standards of practice, networking opportunities, awards, continuing education, and more. In fact, the ENA provides several scholarship grants to the nursing students of both undergraduates to graduate students, even the doctoral candidates.
ENA, together with Journal of Emergency Medical Services/JEMSoffer the JEMS/Elsevier Nursing Scholarship and award it to pre-hospital personnel, which can be Emergency Medical Technician/EMT or EMT-paramedic, who hopes to pursue a degree in nursing. The program will award scholarship amounting to $5,000 with one year duration. The winner of this scholarship will also be awarded with a complimentary membership to ENA for a year. The proof of minimum of one year of pre-hospital work experience plus proof of acceptance into an undergraduate program in nursing are the two main criteria for this scholarship. There is no need for the candidate to be a member or ENA.
Through this scholarship, EMTs are given opportunities to broaden their skills, knowledge and career in the field of health care, particularly in earning a degree in nursing program. These EMTs who are trained clinicians to respond and act quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, accident scenes and traumatic injuries will have the opportunity to add more to their knowledge nursing care that they can apply in their current career as EMT.
