Many individuals enjoy their career as registered nurse/RN. However, many of them still hope to advance their knowledge in the field of health care such as bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, there are organizations offering assistance to RNs desiring to further their specialization.
The Josh Gottheil Memorial Bone Marrow Transplant Career Development Awards was established to provide support to the registered nurse who works with bone marrow transplantation through financial assistance in which the recipient can use to take continuing education program that will further his/her professional objectives and goals in relation to transplant nursing. However, this scholarship award is not intended as tuition in the academic program. This award is governed by the Oncology Nursing Society Foundation.
Eligibility criteria includes being employed currently as RN working in the specified transplantation with at least 75% of the time dedicated to the care of patient or those in the position of nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist or nurse manager as BMT coordinator or with BMT patient population. In addition, it is necessary for the RN to have two or more years in BMT nursing practice experience prior to the deadline of the scholarship application. This award cannot be utilized for any ONS Congress or even the ONS Connections conferences or for education degree programs or courses that will lead to the academic degree. There will be four awards in this program and each recipient will receive $2,000 and the assistance will last for one year. The deadline of application for the this year is set on 15th of June.
