A program called John D. and Virginia Riesch Scholarship was founded to offer financial help to the students who are experiencing financial difficulties thus making it difficult for them to continue their education and get a degree. This scholarship program has its requirements that the hopeful candidate needs to possess in order to be eligible to make an application. Part of the qualification for John D. and Virginia Riesch Scholarship is that the candidate must be a citizen of the United States and must be pursuing a degree in either medicine or nursing.
If the candidate is a medical student, this scholarship grant requires the student to study at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, while nursing students must be enrolled at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation is the one who provides the award for the John D. and Virginia Riesch Scholarship, and the amount of award that it offers its recipients is worth $2,500 and is non- renewable.
Only one recipient is chosen by this scholarship program each year, and applications may be obtained from the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation website. Apart from the completed application, there are other supporting documents and other requirements that the applicant needs to submit, such as a 1- 2 pages of a personal statement that will discuss the insight of the applicant based on the topic listed in the application. Transcript of records and 2 letters of recommendation from a school official who can vouch for the candidate’s academic and personal achievement are also required.
