A scholarship program called Harry J. Morris Jr. Emergency Services Scholarship was created to provide financial aid to the students who need financial help so they can finish their education. Like any other scholarship grants, Harry J. Morris Jr. Emergency Services Scholarship has its own set of requirements as well. Part of its requirements that potential candidates need to meet in order to qualify for this scholarship program is that he or she must be an undergraduate student who is a resident of any of the following counties in Michigan such as Kent, Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Ottawa, Montcalm, Muskegon or Newaygo.
The hopeful candidate must also possess a grade point average of a minimum of 2.5 and that he or she must be majoring in any emergency services such as emergency medical tech, paramedic or firefighter training. The Harry J. Morris Jr. Emergency Services Scholarship is awarded by Grand Rapids Community Foundation, and it provides the amount between $500 and $5,000 to its recipients. The amount that it offers depend on factors such as the recipient’s financial need as well as the availability of the financial resources coming from the program. In an average, this scholarship program offers the amount of $1,000 which is non- renewable.
This scholarship award gives out one award per year and the award is good for one time only. Students who are eligible to make an application for the Harry J. Morris Jr. Emergency Services Scholarship may access the application from the Grand Rapids Community Foundation website. Aside from the application, other requirements must also be submitted like an essay that talks about the applicant’s dreams both personally and professionally.
