George and Blanche Peak created the George William Peak Nursing Scholarship Fund in honor of their son. The couple also intended to use the funds to educate and train nurses who are willing to work at the University Hospital and Clinics, specifically to the Burn Unit. This program is provided through Peak Estate and is designed to assist students enrolled on a full-time basis in the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. The recipient of the scholarship can be a staff at the Burn Unit and is continuing his/her education; he/she can also be completing the nursing education with the intention of working in the said unit.
In order to apply for this MU scholarship, students must submit their application to the Sinclair School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs. Once the scholarship application is received by the office, they will become eligible for this scholarship as well as to other internal scholarship (there are about 100 internal scholarships and other external ones) in which the applicants meet the eligibility requirements and criteria. It is also necessary for the students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid/FAFSA on file. Scholarships awardees and amounts they will receive usually vary from year to year. The scholarship is offered to student pursuing baccalaureate in nursing in any nationally accredited college or university. This amount of financial assistance will definitely go a long way on the studies of the recipients.
