For those needing financial assistance, scholarship programs are the solution. There are many scholarships available – some are open to students taking up any degree program and some are designed for specific degree program. Some are offered through the college unit itself or internally and some from external source. Whatever the case, financial problems should not be the hindrance because there are various scholarship programs being offered and available.
Scholarship programs are established to help deserving students advance in their studies. Similar to other scholarship, applicants must be able to demonstrate their financial needs and must have GPA of not lower than 3.0. Undergraduate and graduate students are also welcome to apply. These are some of the typical requirements in any scholarships. Some of the sponsors also consider the place where the student resides. Of course, students applying for the scholarship must be enrolled or will be enrolling on a full-time basis to any higher learning institutions.
The Franks Foundation Scholarship is a program sponsored by the Oregon Student Assistance Commission. They award scholarship to nursing students (as well as theology students) and the student must be a resident of Deschutes, Jefferson County or Crook as the sponsor’s first preference or residents of Harney, Grant, Lake or Klamath County as the second preference. The sponsor will award $1,000 to the deserving students in which he/she will use it to continue his/her education. The process of application may take time, but it is worth the wait for the students who will receive the assistance.
