Scholarship programs are established to help deserving students advance in their studies. A good example is the Franklin D. Boyce Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is the promotion of broad range of health care professionals through the awarding scholarships to deserving students who are enrolled on a full-time basis on any accredited institutions of higher learning. Nurses are one of the professions included here and therefore, students pursuing nursing degree can apply for this scholarship. Upon the approval of Board of Trustee, this scholarship can be renewed up to three consecutive academic years. The John Randolph Foundation organizes this scholarship.
The Franklin D. Boyce Scholarship Program was established way back in 1996 in honor of Mr. Boyce, who was the CEO of the John Randolph Medical Center as well as the first CEO of the foundation. The scholarship program is open to deserving students residing at the City of Hopewell. Residents of Surry, Surry, Colonial Heights, Prince George, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Sussex, Dinwiddie, Chesterfield (South of Rt. 288 and East of Ironbridge Road), Varina (Southeast Henrico, south of I-64) and Charles City are also eligible to apply. The same goes for the student interns who works for the foundation are. The foundation trustees and other employees of the foundation and their immediate families are not eligible to apply.
Similar to other scholarship, applicants must be able to demonstrate their financial needs and must have GPA of not lower than 3.0. Undergraduate and graduate students are also welcome to apply.
