If you desire to pursue a career as a nurse, you have to complete a nursing degree program from a nationally accredited college or university. Scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance and an example is the various financial aids offered by the Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association/FNSNA such as the Undergraduate Scholarship Program. This scholarship is opened to nursing students who are enrolled on a full-time basis on an accredited nursing institution/school. The criteria for the selection of students includes financial need, academic achievement and the participation in nursing student organizations as well as the community activities that are related to health care. Some sponsors may require other documents aside from the ones stated.
Applications packet and instruction on the scholarship application are found on the NSNA website. The form can be downloaded online. For this particular scholarship, the recipient can receive financial assistance ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 and the deadline for submission of application is on the 13th of January every year. Additionally, graduating high school senior students are not eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a copy of their license and also, seniors in Associate Degree or Diploma programs who are going immediately onto an RN to BSN or RN to Master’s program must do the same.
