It is necessary for people to study. In fact, education is a stepping stone to achieve their goals and dreams in life especially for the students. There are many individuals dreaming of becoming a professional nurse. This can be achieved via nursing education from nationally accredited colleges and universities. However, the cost of education is continuously going up while the assistance for deserving students are not being on par with it. Nevertheless, many scholarship programs are being established and awarded to deserving students who are truly in need of the assistance in order for them to completer their nursing program and be able to serve the society.
The Flo Dickey Funk Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund is an example of endowed fund providing scholarships for students pursuing nursing degree and in genuinely need of financial assistance plus able to demonstrate high scholastic standing. In fact, this endowment was originally a gift as part of the late Flo Dickey Funk’s will (she is an alumnus of MU and completed Bachelors of Education degree in 1927).
In order to apply for this internal scholarship, students must submit their application to the Sinclair School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs. Once the scholarship application is received by the office, they will become eligible for this scholarship as well as to other internal scholarship (there are about 100 internal scholarships and other external ones) in which the applicants meet the eligibility requirements and criteria. It is also necessary for the students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid/FAFSA on file. Scholarships awardees and amounts they will receive usually vary from year to year.
