The Kansas Nurses Foundation (KNF) established a scholarship program called Ellen K. Carson Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship program was specifically created for the citizens of the United States who are residents of the state of Kansas and are students of nursing. In order to qualify for the Ellen K. Carson Endowed Scholarship, the candidate must be enrolled in either Pittsburgh University or Western University Schools of Nursing.
Part of the requirement for this scholarship grant is that the student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Ellen K. Carson Endowed Scholarship provides the amount of $500 worth of financial assistance every year. This award is non- renewable and only chooses one recipient each year.
Students of nursing who are interested to make an application for the Ellen K. Carson Endowed Scholarship may access the application at the Kansas Nurses Foundation (KNF) website. Apart from the completed application, other supporting documents must also be submitted in order to be considered eligible.
The supporting documents are as such: the candidate’s official transcript, a narrative statement of the candidate’s future role in nursing in the state of Kansas, a letter of acceptance from the school which indicates that the student has been accepted into a nursing program and 3 letters of recommendation that are confidential. One recommendation must come from a faculty advisor, and another one must be from an employer, while one more letter must be able to contain something about the applicant’s dedication to nursing.
All the necessary documents and the application must be submitted in one packet on or before its deadline.
