The Dr. Lauranne Sams Scholarship is one type of a scholarship grant that is offered to African American students who are presently taking up any nursing program such as BSN, AD, Diploma or LVN/ LPN. This scholarship program is open to the nursing students who need financial assistance and who possess the necessary qualifications in order to be qualified to make the application for this grant.
More than being an African American nursing student, the interested applicant must also be maintaining a good academic standing, and at the same time must be a member of the National Black Nurses Association or NBNA, and if there is a local chapter, the candidate must also be a member of it. Another requirement is that the applicant must have no less than 1 year of school year left.
In general, the assessment of the application in order to qualify for the Dr. Lauranne Sams Scholarship is based on the candidate’s academic achievement as well as his or her financial incapacity to complete his or her education in nursing and at the same time, the applicant’s involvement in community service is also considered.
The amount that the Dr. Lauranne Sams Scholarship awards is about $2,000. For those who are interested and qualified candidates, all requirements must be fulfilled and submitted on or before its actual deadline which is set on April 15.
