The Sinclair School of Nursing of the University of Missouri has successfully established a scholarship award that is aimed at nursing students who are experiencing some financial difficulties. The name of the scholarship grant is the Dorothy Gillette Meyer Scholarship. Priority is given to women although men can join. These students must also satisfy their scholarly requirements before they can apply. Priority is also given to those who graduated from state high schools in St. Charles, Missouri. However, if there are no graduates from St. Charles, Missouri, graduates from other public secondary schools in the State of Missouri may be awarded the scholarship. The scholarship was originally funded and founded by Doctor B. Frank Gillette, the brother of Dorothy Gillette Meyer in the year 1981. Dorothy Gillette Meyer graduated from the university with a degree in nursing and is best remembered by her contributions in the nursing profession. Both brother and sister have already passed on.
