High school students who are about to graduate in any Colorado school can now avail of a scholarship award the Daughters of the American Revolution is giving out to those who plan on taking up nursing in college. The scholarship may be used in any nursing school in the country.
The Virginia Leyda Roberts Nursing Scholarship is given to senior students who are in pursuit of their nursing degree in an acknowledged school of nursing.
Those students who are interested in applying for the scholarship must gain a sponsorship letter from the Daughters of the American Revolution Colorado Chapter.
The scholarship award is sent directly to the school where the applicant is enrolled when enrollment commences and the school must be accredited with the Daughters of the American Revolution.
All applicants must be American Citizens and must be a certified resident of the state of Colorado.
The selection committee will base their choice on the following; good academic performance, declaration of financial difficulty and the desire to commit to study.
Photographs of applicants should not be submitted as the selection committee will not rely on appearance, race, gender, religious background, physical state and country of origin. The choices are made and finalized by non Daughters of the American Revolution members.
The scholarship is not renewable. The deadline of the submission of applications is on the 15th of January directed to the State Chairman. The awards are given out every April during the yearly Colorado State Conference in April.

The Daughers of the American Revolution National Chapter also gives out other forms of scholarships aimed at helping student in the field of optometry, nursing, speech therapy, occupational therapy, historic protection and more.
