Health Professions Education Foundation provides the award for the Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship program was created to offer financial support to the freshmen or sophomore college students who are residents of California. This program is open as well to those who are studying in a college or university also in the state of California, and are pursuing a degree in nursing.
Part of the qualification for the Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship is that the applicant must have a grade point average with a minimum of 2.0 and that he or she must be fluent in another language other than English. The amount of financial assistance that the Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship offers is worth $10,000. This scholarship program chooses its recipients every year and the awards are non- renewable.
It may also be important to take note that the date of graduation of the recipient may affect the amount of award that he or she will receive. The monetary award is intended to be used to cover educational fees such as tuition, other necessary fees, books, supplies and others that are related to the recipient’s education.
The number of awards given vary each year, but on the previous year, Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship was able to select 91 recipients. The application for this scholarship program is very accessible on the Health Professions Education Foundation website. More than the completed application, it also requires other documents such as transcript or records, a personal statement that answers the questions on the application and which has a maximum of two pages, verification of language fluency, Student Aid Report (SAR), and a copy of the latest Federal Tax Returm.
