African American scholastic scholarship programs are designed provide higher education for African America students with less financial capacity. The reason behind this is that if one decides to pursue higher education, the cost usually is very high. To minimize this problem, scholarships are designed to particularly address this issue among African American community. With specific focus in the field of nursing, some scholarships are being offered for those African American nurses who want to further and gain more knowledge about their profession.

With this in mind, the scholarship program known as the Ethnic/Racial Minority Fellowships is now being offered specifically to African American nurses. This program was authored by the American Nurses Association.
