The Alicia C. Wilson Endowed Fund is an endowed type of scholarship that is equivalent to full fees. This assistance is awarded to full-time junior or senior undergraduate student pursuing nursing degree and also employed part‐time at MU Hospitals and Clinics or engaging with volunteer work there. Candidates for this scholarship must meet the criteria for financial need and the academic achievement. This endowment was established in 1990 by the Service League Auxiliary in honor of Mrs. Alicia Wilson who was a member of the Service League Auxiliary as well as long‐time volunteer and leader of the University Hospital Gift Shop.
In order to apply for this MU scholarship, students must submit their application to the Sinclair School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs. Once the scholarship application is received by the office, they will become eligible for this scholarship as well as to other internal scholarship (there are about 100 internal scholarships and other external ones) in which the applicants meet the eligibility requirements and criteria. It is also necessary for the students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid/FAFSA on file. Scholarships awardees and amounts they will receive usually vary from year to year. The scholarship is offered to student pursuing baccalaureate in nursing and in his/her junior or senior year. This amount of financial assistance will definitely go a long way on the studies of the recipients. The committee will first consider the financial need of the candidate followed by the academic standing, which must equal or better than 2.75 GPA.
