Best Hospitals in New Hampshire

It seems that New Hampshire is looking at their nursing shortage in a positive manner. Instead of looking at it as a shortage, the local government labels it as growth opportunity. Whatever they call it, the reality is that there is a 25% nursing shortage as of the present. This number can go higher by the year 2020.

One of the things that has resulted in the shortage is that 20% of the state’s nursing graduates actually work in other states mainly because of better salaries. While most still live in the state, a lot of them commute daily to adjacent states to their workplaces. The average nurse in New Hampshire makes about $63,000 which below national standards.

Another thing affecting the workforce numbers is the impending retirement of a lot of nurses. The most hit is the nurse educator sector of the nursing workforce. There is too much lacking in the segment. The state only has accreditation to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for 9 schools and had to decline 1,132 nursing applicants because of the lack of nurse educators.
